looking forward to the cold

or at least the cool. I'm so sick of this heat. I would like to be able to wear at least two layers of clothing. I don't want winter, that sucks too. I want autumn. I like spring and autumn, I hate extremes. I already have a new cable knit jumper and wool dress hanging in my wardrobe crying out to be worn. I'm also thinking about getting this anorak...

it's a bit primary school excursion day, but in a really good way.

breaking news!

But not really. I kid. Seeing as today was only the 3rd actual sunny day of my summer break I've had a lot of free time and not a lot of laying about in the sun this combined with my lack of any plans I've had to force myself to find indoor activities to keep my daily catnap count down to 1 a day. I've been doing a bit of online shopping...

Actually got something I've been lusting after for ages. The 130 pounds price tag kept my credit card at bay - but 60 pounds? Thanks Topshop sale/that small ounce of willpower I found somewhere.

I also want to do this. I think it's raining (again) tomorrow, indoor project? Yes.

I've also been going a bit nuts with the photos on my tumblr. I even bought a chocolate mold and a whisk while my sister dealt with her wedding registry a few (rainy) days ago. Yes this bit might be a bit too ambitious for me, but I'll give it ago...maybe...only if it's really, really rainy...because I really just want to be doing this

all day and everyday! Or even going to see that film again, and again, and again would satisfy me on a hot, sticky, rainy summer day I see in the near future. Oh summer, why must you be so sporadic? WHY?

ARE YOU WARM BRO?

More talk about cold weather while I bask in the hot. So this is what's happening in Europe right now. Crazy snow. I was in Paris last year just as they all started going crazy with the snow and chaos and had a snow vs. public transport vs. airport nightmare - and this was in January! I remember when I visited family when I was a young nugget from Singapore to London during the Christmas holidays dying for snow that early, and would pretty much hyperventilate at slush. What's going on bros? Snow this early? (Or at all for a matter of fact) You're weirding me out. I have two things to say. a) I hope my ASOS order is ok (I was informed this morning it was delayed due to weather) and b) I HOPE BIF IS OK AND WARM!

I don't get it

Hey guys, so today is super icy and cold right? Yes! And these days seem to bring out a strange breed of people...the kind of people who wear a very, very thick winter coat with 3/4 tights as pants (not even the full version) and flip-flops. Huh? What's up guys? They seem cold too hunching over an all. I mean it's not like you were caught unaware because you thought because of all this fantastic weather we're in the middle of summer and all of a sudden a cold shit storm gusts past you. No. You have a massive coat and scarf dude. It's not like they have an abnormally high body temperature and are superhuman and don't feel the cold. They have massive coats and scarves! W.T.F. x 1 million. Pet peeve number one! These are probably the same people who think they are rugged up for winter replacing their 3/4 tights for jeans, but keeping the flip flops (of course). No. What? Why? So unnatural.

Yes I'm a pretty big hater most of the time. But don't think of me as an annoying hater, because I'm not annoying, I'm pretty quiet. I'm a bit like Wednesday Addams. Hating quietly, thoughtfully and in black.

I'm Cold

Hi, welcome to the billionth post from someone in Auckland complaining about the cold. Yes what a weedy wimp I am, it's only Auckland, blah, blah, blah. I don't care! IT'S STILL COLD! This is one fantastic outfit young Kate is sporting. SOCKS WITH SANDALS! Oh fantastic. But seriously, I'd wear this. It looks very warmtastic!

[witty remark about how it is cold and i miss summer]

Oh the life of a hypocrite, huh? Yes, yes I lurrrrve winter. I've said it before, I'll say it again. It makes snuggling under feather duvets till the morning becomes embarrassingly close to the afternoon seem justified. Dressing in winter is much more awesomer too. Duh! Tights. Socks. Tights AND sock. Scarfs. Layering. Dark Colours. Hello awesome! But you know what does suck? Cold feet. Not having a proper 'winter coat' (p.s. HELP ME HERE!) The palace is very warm. Since moving in just under a year ago Bif and I have NEVER needed any kind of heating. EVER! But still, I ramble. Basically I need a winter coat and/or summer. [Winter coat crisis and wish list to follow, WATCH THIS SPACE - if you dare]

The Anorak

Anoraks. What a naf concept, seriously who wears them? (Me). But despite their naf wrap they have become somewhat my life saver. Unless I'm at the beach, a water park, involved in a pre-planned summer water fight where I'm wearing appropriate clothes or in need of a shower I hate getting wet. I'm not the kind of person who can find the funny side of being hit in the face with a water bomb by a pesky child. I will only find anger. Annoying, out of control kids, you have been warned.

So having this grinch attitude towards water I have learned throughout my short life that an umbrella will most certainly NOT suffice.Sure umbrellas look quaint. You can buy them in pretty patterns. You can get a transparent one from $3(+GST) from Japan and pretend you are Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation. But if there is wind, if the rain is feeling a bit crazy that day and decides to go here, there and everywhere? Then the umbrella is a foe, not a friend. But you know what is a friend in those situations, yes the anorak!

I bought the above lovely little anorak from American Apparel at the beginning of the year in Melbourne when it was 42 degrees (I tell no lies) and knew it would come in handy one day. Today is the day. While I appreciate my American Apparel anorak from shielding me from the storm today, I must admit it does not have my complete heart. My heart really belongs to my primary school compulsory issue anorak.

Now this baby was ex-pen-sive! Let me tell you (or let my parents tell you). But oh boy was it worth every single cent. It wasn't just waterproof. It was WATERPROOF. Industrial is the word I'd use to describe it. You could sail the seven seas wrapped up in this baby (there was even a velcro fastening to cover two thirds of your face) and not even notice you were at sea. It also had snugs. Warm, warm, warm felt lining. So warm you'd think it was lined with some kind of animal pelt rather than felt. Oh god I miss it. And considering that I haven't grown a single inch since I was 12, I reckon I could still fit it! Mother kept my shameful uniform dresses but decided that the anorak was suited for a trade in at the uniform shop. Whhhhyyyy?

Finally!

A breeze AND rain?! This must be my lucky day. Goodbye summer. I will miss you - but only eventually.

p.s. my sister just told me it's hailing and snowing (really Anna? Snow?) in Melbourne.

Um...

Another dazed and confused Sarah post-nap here. It's so hot. I think I just combusted in my nap just before. I feel all grizzly and funny (not haha). As amazers as our little palace is, it is also amazers hot. My room in particular. My fan is my new best friend. He goes everywhere with me. But sometimes, when you've just come home after a hard day of buying an external hardrive and just want to read the final book of a four book saga about an annoying girl, her irritating vampire boyfriend and a few warewolves, you just drift asleep without turning your amazing new friend on. Anyway...here are a few things. They have less meaning than most things on this blog usually have because of my current state. The Grand Canyon, where I seriously want to live (with my fan of course). And something I quite like from YSL, the dress, nothing else. The ghetto gold on the girl is a bit much...

Sum-meh

Summer seemed to be slowly creeping around the corner today. But by the time I got my lazy ass to a pool, it had clouded over again. Great. Amber had these photos up on her blog and they would have totally complimented my, obviously premature, summery day. Clouds are so overrated, get rid of them already sky!

Facebook photo envy

Might as well keep this ball of 'Bif and Sarah's ballistic blogging' rolling. Some people are luckier than others. Oh to be bombing into a pool (with a swim up bar) in South East Asia right now.

It gets too cold in our house

I woke up today in what seemed like a completely different place from where I went to sleep. There was sun! There is not much more I want to say about this matter except that it makes me want to move to a certain place in particular even more. A place where the sun shines pretty much all the time, however seasonal enough (just) to still wear winter clothes; tights, coats, scarves - however in more of a fashion way than an 'appearance-out-the-window-it's-too-cold-to-think-about-colour-coordination' way.

It is freezing cold!

And my life would be so much more glamorous, and warmer, if I had this in coat form. This doesn't mean that I want the flamingo equivalent of a mink fur coat. This little guy just looks so warm, yet still oh-so-fabulous.
