Here is a photo of me (sarah) eating an orange ice block...

So my summer of sloth is still going along quite nicely. Just thought I'd say hi and let y'all know that I'm still being lazy and all. Today I got my Forever 21 parcel and two pairs of new shoes...yes two...leave me alone! The most exciting part of my day...while I am really enjoying lying about doing nothing, floating in the pool when the sun is out, watching old MySky episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians late into the night and getting quite stuck into Valley of the Dolls (do it if you love a trashy page-turner) I'm still not really satisfied. I wish I was more organised earlier in the year. Pretty much I wish I was here

First time in my life where I actually want a distnict 'holiday' or 'vacation' rather than just some lazy time off. Read: I AM NOT READY TO GO BACK TO WORK!

breaking news!

But not really. I kid. Seeing as today was only the 3rd actual sunny day of my summer break I've had a lot of free time and not a lot of laying about in the sun this combined with my lack of any plans I've had to force myself to find indoor activities to keep my daily catnap count down to 1 a day. I've been doing a bit of online shopping...

Actually got something I've been lusting after for ages. The 130 pounds price tag kept my credit card at bay - but 60 pounds? Thanks Topshop sale/that small ounce of willpower I found somewhere.

I also want to do this. I think it's raining (again) tomorrow, indoor project? Yes.

I've also been going a bit nuts with the photos on my tumblr. I even bought a chocolate mold and a whisk while my sister dealt with her wedding registry a few (rainy) days ago. Yes this bit might be a bit too ambitious for me, but I'll give it ago...maybe...only if it's really, really rainy...because I really just want to be doing this

all day and everyday! Or even going to see that film again, and again, and again would satisfy me on a hot, sticky, rainy summer day I see in the near future. Oh summer, why must you be so sporadic? WHY?

Never enough aloe vera...

It was sunny today. Yay! Every year I forget the most fantastic place to cover with sunblock. Last year it was the back of my knees. I got those puppies covered up good today...but forgot the front of my armpits. Yeah, the front of your armpits, use your imagination - I didn't and now I have the weirdest and most uncomfortable sunburn. Great, very glamorous.

Summer book club

So summer is upon us finally - or at least me. Had my first day of Christmas break today, feels kind of good. There is a lot to do in summer, and that is a whole lot of nothing. But one thing I want to do is start reading again. Proper books (ish). But the problem I have with 'modern literature' is that it kind of annoys me. The writing these days more than often than not it makes me want to scream and cringe at the same time. So when I read it is usually books made for impressionable tweens or books that verge on trash. Another type of book I tend to read is the 'must read classics' the wonderful Lolita for example (read now if you haven't already.) So in the spirit of my grumpy and cynical attitude towards writers today I have picked a book I can't really believe I haven't read yet; 'must read classic' slash trash. Wonderful. Summer reading is set for me - that and back-dated magazines. I love old magazines; yes I'm slow and not with the now but they are still interesting and on that note, to our one reader, expect some not so breaking pop culture news coming your way this summer.

I found you, Miss New Booty...

but does it really want to be found? Ok, so here's the thing. Summer obviously came along over the long weekend - duh! And with that comes a new wardrobe, or at least eliminating something from it. TIGHTS! Goodbye old faithful friends and hello instantly transformed and weather appropriate outfits! And hello something else...booty on show. I don't know about you, but all weekend while skipping around in the sun and in my newly transformed outfits I felt somewhat exposed. A gust of wind, a reach too high or even the 'is it really THAT short' realisation could have me looking like little Miss frilly knickers up there. I'm sure it's all nice and stuff to have your booty filed in the ass category of Titty City however I am going to let those girls bask in that glory without me if I can help it. Public near nakedness makes blush, call me crazy but I've never been a fan...I mean what if it's laundry day and I DON'T have my frilly knickers on? Then what? Shame and humiliation, that's what.
Tights are just so awesome because they a) make EVERYTHING instantly more dressed up, they also b) make EVERYTHING longer. I don't care if it's the same skirt and you haven't grown - take away the tights and it's about 10cm shorter (exaggerate? me? never...). So hooray for maxis? No. I like my new looong dress and all, but I will not hooray the word maxi. Well I guess then it's hello 'bending down like a lady at work' (bending the knees, not the torso) my new best friend for summer.

I need to learn how to booty shake like that. Maybe getting an actualy booty first would help...

White Out

Dolce & Gabbana all white (with a bit of black and leopard). Some may say boring but I say very beautiful and awesome. I love the lace detailing, eyelet cut outs, sheerness and very strong Lolita vibe. I feel fresh just by looking at it. I feel happy just by looking at it. Light and giddy. Girly...almost. I think this sunny day has pulled up out of my Wednesday Addams doom and gloom - I remember that there is actually another colour out there other than black, WHITE! A holiday in the Greek Isles in the 50s? Sure let me just put on my Spring 2011 Dolce & Gabbana get up!

And because I can't help myself, here...

Yee-ha!

Hi y'all. Not a lot happening except that I am getting a bit too excited about summer. Ok yeah so it's like 'spring' and all, but spring very much still in it's quotation marks. It's actually colder than it was a few weeks ago, right? Or am I just crazy? I think I'm pretty crazy because I bought sandals today. SANDALS! Gurl you crazy! I know. I but i can barely contain myself. i can't really contain myself over the release of the new Justin Townes Earle album either. I've pre-ordered the little guy (the c.d. not the actual man...) and I NEVER do that because pre-ordering is for freaks and ultimate geeks. Well guess what I'm an ultimate geek. Justin Townes Earle is my favorite, favorite, favorite musician dude. Tops all the lists! I was pretty much bed-ridden when I came back from an overseas trip and realised that my trip DID NOT overlap his first NZ gig a few years ago. Very sad. Anyway let's NEVER talk about that boo boo every again...in other news this new album doesn't seem like it's going to disappoint at all. Title track is also fueling my urge for summer, so catchy, so summery. Listen to it here.

This is Sarah b.t.w, if you couldn't tell because Bif rolls her eyes at country and Sarah is lame enough to pre-order shit. Actually if you DIDN'T know that, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN READING THIS BLOG ENOUGH! DO IT MORE!

Growing up, one diffusion line at a time

So Kate Sylvester huh? To be honest I've always been more of a Sylvester fan than a full on Kate Sylvester devotee. Sylvester was always more fun, easy to wear, approachable and (most importantly) affordable. All the fantastic things 20-somethings love about diffusion lines. But this year, the tides are changing. I saw all the Kate Sylvester S/S 2010/11 hoop-la come out of RAFW and it was all very awesome, pretty and fantastic. Great. But it wasn't until I saw the lookbook, by way of Katherine is Awesome, that something in me changed. Bottom line. I need those pants. Grown up pants. They are awesome!

Fantastic pants! I never thought this day would come, I like pants! To me pants have always been a bit too masculine for me. I don't suit/understand the whole masculine aesthetic many girls adopt. I don't get it. Maybe because I don't have the long, lean limbs to carry off that look and look more masculine/feminine than just plain masculine. Maybe. Who knows? But what I do know now is that I like these pants. Not too masculine, still some slouch left in them (but not too much). Cool.

But it wasn't just the pants that pushed me from Sylvester and into mama Kate Sylvester's arms. Hello awesome cardigans, fantastic blue top with ruffle edges that goes so well with the pants, and these dresses. Hi!

But let's not go jumping off any cliffs or anything. Sylvester you are still great! I wish I looked good in a turban, you make it seem so easy and such and essential part of an upcoming summer ensemble to the beach. Curses to a round face! But hooray to these bikinis! Hooray indeed.

Over and out. S.

Mustardy

So it might still be too early to be thinking about summer. But look at this bathing suit from Ruby. Cool! Yeah, I know.

[witty remark about how it is cold and i miss summer]

Oh the life of a hypocrite, huh? Yes, yes I lurrrrve winter. I've said it before, I'll say it again. It makes snuggling under feather duvets till the morning becomes embarrassingly close to the afternoon seem justified. Dressing in winter is much more awesomer too. Duh! Tights. Socks. Tights AND sock. Scarfs. Layering. Dark Colours. Hello awesome! But you know what does suck? Cold feet. Not having a proper 'winter coat' (p.s. HELP ME HERE!) The palace is very warm. Since moving in just under a year ago Bif and I have NEVER needed any kind of heating. EVER! But still, I ramble. Basically I need a winter coat and/or summer. The Wedge

This is my future. I want these. These will make my life (and summer wardrobe) complete. These shoes are amazers!!! I can't explain how much I've been thinking (and re-looking at them) since I was inspired by the girl I work with's awesome summery wedges and took straight to net-a-porter, and far away from my work, to look up wedges. Love at first sight. I want these so much I might even do a Veruka Salt tantrum all alone in my room over them.

Everything is much clearer now

So a few weeks ago I moaned and groaned about how all I wear was black these days and was having a semi-crisis over what the hell to do (if and) when summer rolls around the corner. Well today it hit me. White. It's the obvious choice for someone like myself who seems to be falling into a little monochrome box. I have this white dress I might pull out again, I put it away after a certain someone told me I looked like a Mormon (the slutty young one Margene to be exact - intended as a compliment. How? I don't know). While I do love Big Love, I don't really think Mormon-chic is my look this summer. So while I have settled on my blacked-out clothes solution I have another problemo at hand; how do I pull this off without looking a) Mormon b)like I'm getting married or c)like I'm going to a P.Diddy party in the Hamptons or whatever those high rollers do all dressed in white.
