Personal Space

I use to have this real thing about my room. You know like one of those really particular and annoying people who has a place and vibe for everything. We lately I've let that slide. I don't know if that's because I've gotten a wee bit lazy, that my room is pretty small (though that didn't really stop me when I was at university and my hostel room was built for a very small smurf) or wehather it is because since Bif and I moved to the palace my 'space' has increased from being contained in one room to being able to be exploded all over the apartment. Well, looking at The Selby today has really kicked my little ass into gear. There's nothing like a little heavy lifting and spring cleaning on a Wednesday evening. Oh, and Grand Designs...

I also want to buy a cactus. But I've been told that having a cactus in your room was bad luck or something. Can someone clear this up for me?

Rings

I want to wear more rings. But they are very, very, very hard to find. Rings, I have decided, are like jeans. They are EVERYWHERE yes, but they are non always perfect - very rarely in fact. Yes Diva and Equip have a great range of stuff that can be passed off as if never have come from places like that but their rings...always something not quite right. Too much glitter. One too many 'diamonds' etc. OR it's a case of good old Karen Walker jewelery being only affordable for queens and such. Don't you agree? The only tried and true ring I've had is an amber ring I bought in Paris when I was 15. My sister and I got a bit lost and to distract ourselves from this fact we went shopping instead. Viola, my ring. Since, I've had two other semi-successful rings come into my life. The first is my faux-Cartier leopard ring I bought in Tokyo last year. But this one is a bit too bling for everyday wear, for me anyway (bubble wrap and packing tape don't really mix well with g.l.a.m.o.r.o.u.s.). The second ring is a daisy one I bought off good ole TradeMe a few months ago for $10. The problem with THIS one is that the petals are not as delicate as they should be. Rather sharp and hurty really. Sigh. My life is so hard.

An Artist at Versailles

And it's not Jeff Koons. No, it's Xavier Veilhan. Todd Selby investigated the show that is currently on at Versailles. Some of it I non like. But some, the murple balloons in particular, I do like. But I think I just love Versailles so much I just have to like something. Versailles = my favorite place in the world. Actually to be more precise, the Grand Trianon = my favorite place in the world.

Sometimes, I get a bit out of control when I shop

Shoes will forever be a problem for me. Especially since I have a tendency to buy things that are "similar but slightly different." For example, I might already have strappy black heels with gold studs on them - but to me that's a whole different ball game from black heel booties with gold studs. Right? RIGHT?! See the difference? And what is so wrong with having a slightly out of control shoe collection? If anything, they photograph well. But what is definitely a whole different game is $300+ Twin Peaks perfect dresses. That game is called unfairly too expensive for Sarah. Sigh.

Shiny but not cosy

Julia Restoin Roitfeld is my big hair, big eye-browed idol. She makes me feel good about mine. A peek into her abode via The Selby made me feel slightly like a green-eyed monster, mainly aimed towards the below shoes. However, it also made me rather happy with my little hidey hole. While I will admit is slightly on the colder side of the temperature scale, it actually looks like a room - not an art gallery.
