White Out

Dolce & Gabbana all white (with a bit of black and leopard). Some may say boring but I say very beautiful and awesome. I love the lace detailing, eyelet cut outs, sheerness and very strong Lolita vibe. I feel fresh just by looking at it. I feel happy just by looking at it. Light and giddy. Girly...almost. I think this sunny day has pulled up out of my Wednesday Addams doom and gloom - I remember that there is actually another colour out there other than black, WHITE! A holiday in the Greek Isles in the 50s? Sure let me just put on my Spring 2011 Dolce & Gabbana get up!

And because I can't help myself, here...

Stuff thats awesome

Some people can really make your day. Like when they make you a homemade version of a tee shirt you really REALLY wanted but couldn't afford. Like this here Baddies ghost tee, which looks very similar to a certain Ksubi version, courtesy of Mr. Ben Claasen.

Gosh doesn't it just look like the real thing? I know I know its like, illegal or whatever but some things can't be helped. I'm sure there will be a rip off at Supre or something anyway.
A bonus item in my giftpack was this:

MY VERY OWN, PERSONALIZED VERSION! See how instead of Baddies, it says Biffies ? Like me, Bif? and also it is wearing tassels and cat eyeliner like me, Bif?
What an awesome gift.

I bought myself a gift the other day also (thanks to my brothers credit card) which also fits in here nicely as it is also a black tee shirt.... I think its becoming an unhealthy obsession. Anyway, its this lovely Boy London tee (which I promptly cut the sleeves off)

I actually wanted the full length dress with a charcoal logo on it but it took ten minutes to get a staff member to talk to me and when they did, I found out it was a sample only and they weren't for sale ANYWHERE and couldn't be taken off the mannequin even. But the t shirt will be sufficient.

THREE AWESOME NEW TSHIRTS WHICH I LOVE.

Phwoor!

Iggy Pop huh? This guy is amazing. This is an actual human you know. A cartoon human who comes across as one tough old dude but still with a soft side for stamp collecting in his spare time or something. I wish he was my friend. My favorite person in the world - if he actually is even a person. Look at his skin! You could make some very good shoes or a nice handbag out of that skin. My oh my.

Why so moody? Well, why not?

So NZ Fashion Week is pretty much over and I haven't blogged about it at all. I will leave that up to those who can be bothered and who actually care (which seems to be pretty much everyone except Bif&Sarah). Maybe I'm too lazy to get caught up in the frenzy. Or maybe I'm too snooty for my own good. Or maybe it's this weather, who knows why I'm so apathetic about this 3 ring circus.

Anyway, I caught up on my reading and looking. I'm not even going to pretend to know what I'm talking about so won't even attempt to talk about Zambesi yada-yada-yada. But I will talk about one collection I really liked, Twentyseven Names 'Fearsome Five'. To state the obvious, of course I'd like it because it reminds me of Wednesday Addams - who seems to fast becoming a style icon and influence of mine once again.

I also really like this final shot from their runway.

Not only does Ella Verberne completely sell that dress (and Wednesday Addams way of life) to me but the whole image and attitude kind of looks like a more polished, less tacky version of this.

Black, grumpy and the 90s is what I took away from this (with a bit of varsity for good on-trend measure) - no wonder I like it. It got me thinking too, about this little colour identity crisis meltdown I had last week - and this is what I have to say on that note:

I like black. I like darker colours. I have dark colouring naturally and a naturally grumpier disposition. I'm 23 now and while I may still seem like a spring chicken in many people's eyes, in my mind I am not only old(ish) but I also know myself. I'm done with being a teenager and being unsure of myself, let alone my 'look'. I'm pretty certain I've sussed that one out. I know myself (most of the time) and know that I like my clothes darker. I will never really get an item of clothing because it's 'fun' - I have fun, but not at the expense of my comfort. My fun comes in knowing that from now on I know myself enough to drop some serious cash money one an item and NOT regret it 6 months later...In saying this, with my new found self confidence I should probably stay away from net-a-porter from now on as I can see this confidence turn into delusion very quickly...

Porenza Schouler PS1 Goes All Navajo On Us

And it's old news, but it's still awesome.

But there is still nothing quite like the classic black (or navy if you are feeling crazy) PS1. Not even my Country Road try hard - despite it trying oh so VERY hard.

It can't just be me...

...who can only see pyjamas here. Right? I know I seem like a massive Karen Walker hater, but I'm not. I'm a massive hater behind the Karen Walker buying mentality that seems to go on here [insert annoying if not slightly hypocritical rant on consumerism, branding, insecurities and moral emptiness here]. But really, pyjamas! This is not a happening thing. Even if you dissected the outfit, I still think the individual items will look like one half of a pyjama set. A stylish one yes, but a pyjama set no less...

On a slightly less hater note, I did weirdly love this outfit though. The 50s trophy housewife in me likes this combo a lot. Strange, but true.

Pink. Can Sarah Do It? (The Conclusion)

I did something today, I think you can figure it out.

Sorry, I really am. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Too much pink, far too much too soon.

Pink. Can Sarah Do It? VOTE!

Today I bought a pink skirt and it's the most pink I've ever owned. EVER! There is a lot of it...But now I'm having doubts. I think I want to go back and exchange it for the black version! I AM SO ANNOYING! I ummed and ahhed for a very long time. Putting things on hold and going away to umm and ahh even more was involved. THREE friends weighed in their opinions (including a very trustworthy black advocate) and pink won with no contest! They did have their points; EVERYTHING I own is black - so there is plenty to un-pink the end result, I'm getting lazy when it comes to buying things and buy everything in black, brown and navy and finally, I always complain that EVERYTHING I OWN IS BLACK. I guess this is a good step forward and away from being boring, it's just very drastic and painful (for all those involved - sorry friends and shop assistant). But is it me? Am I pink (with black everything else)? I like my pink, but am I destined to only own pink Hello Kitty things and enjoy them in my black clothes. So vote everyone, vote! Do I exchange for the black and run the risk of looking like a moody teenager forever? Or do I keep the pink and run the risk of looking like Hello Kitty? HELP ME!

Ok Rodarte

So while the Rodarte sisters have bothered me in the past I'm kind of liking their Spring 2011 collection. The bother was really with THEM the people rather than the clothes, the clothes have always been a bit of alright. This season in particular I am liking the pleated skirts - pleats to please! The giraffe-y print dress in general is very fantastic (except for the droopy boobs, anyone else see them?) And the porcelin print loooong dresses? AMAZERS!

I have a letterbox

I also have a computer, a credit card and a pension for florals, aparently...MY STUFF ARRIVED! FINALLY! (let's not talk about how dramatic getting my Urban Outfitters package was. F.Y.I couriers, putting fifteen million 'card to call' stickers on the parcel with not one of these cards in the letterbox does NOT mean you're doing your job. Idiot.) Anyway...

I got shoes!

I got floral themed stuff

A reeeeeeeeeally long dress - longer than me almost. What was I thinking? (CHEAP! is probally what) But seriously, because this blog is all about the serious stuff in life, I never thought I'd buy a looooong dress/skirt. I'm short. You all know that. Things that look good on me are short things, and long things too aparently. Now I can be Nicki Grant! Now I can totally M.K it up! AWESOME! (I'm most excited about this dress, can you tell?)

But if that doesn't work out I can always wear it as a scarf

Now I just need to finalise my Topshop cart and I'll be all ready for summer. And also very unprepared for anything that requires money...Pretend online shopping is amazing. Actually receiving that stuff in the mail is even better! Do it on a bulk budget. It will a) make the shipping worth it b) make you feel good about scoring a sweet bargain ($22 boots? Say yes!) and finally c) make your parcel grow to an amazing and exciting size!

It's Thursday

But it feels like Friday. O.M.GEEEE END! JUST END! NOW! END! FINISH! PUHLESE!

p.s. big fat SUV sitting in MY ALLOCATED carpark, please move your big fat bum. Don't be so rude. Don't be so annoying. Don't be so big and fat. If you are going to be a dickhead and take someone else's ALLOCATED carpark, at least be a small cute car with untinted windows. Come on!

Ever feel like you are due a good dose of Karma ?? LISTEN HERE UNIVERSAL FORCES! Give me some goooooooooooood Karma... please?

Geek Life

University Challenge, possibly the UK's best quiz show, lights up my life.
I get to make fun of people that look geeky that totally waste me at success in real life and judge them on their turtleneck sweaters and funny hair, but I also get to attempt to be smarter. Years in retail have whittled my intellect to a mere twig. Granted, I'm lucky if I can answer one or two questions correctly but I pat myself on the back for trying.

Does anyone else notice this?

Kim Kardashian back in the day

Kim Kardashian now.

Spot the nose job! And botox. Sigh, The fruits of a sex tape with a D-list celeb.

Wrong wrong wrong

I know its been everywhere like a rash, but I didn't pay much attention to this shoot until now. Todd Cole shooting Britney Spears for POP magazine. Drives me Wild. Not in a good way.
What I don't get is - ok I see the obvious Japanese anime / cutesy fantasy thing but WHY DID THEY INSIST ON MAKING BRITNEY LOOK LIKE AN AMPUTEE?
Jesus... get the poor woman to cross her legs or something. I can't even look at this photo because all I see is stumps stumps stumps.

P.s I don't have a problem with amputees, whatever man, but they could have made this soooo much more flattering and still gone with their theme.

And that was my rant.

Makeover

This photo of Milla Jovovich makes me wanna dye my hair dark again. Its been red for a while now, maybe its about time for a change. But then again I'm not a 6 foot tall super babe who pretty much isn't human.

Also thinking about going to get my eyebrows done and requesting Megan Fox brows... is that weird?

P.s I'm not really a Megan Fox fan because I'm convinced there is no way she could look like this without surgery and it somehow bugs me that she is so insanely perfect looking. But she does have lovely eyebrows.

Kill me

if I ever look like this.

Anyone that knows me knows that if I could be covered in tattoos, I would be. But this look puts me right off.

I don't know what it is... maybe its just the hat that bothers me. Tattoos - ok. Outfit - not for me, but whatever. Maybe just not all together?

oh my gaga

Thats quite a ...steak.

Babes

Oooooo eeeee. I'm not usually a huge fan of the 'fron, but he's looking ok right here. Interesting.....

Still ain't got nothing on babes of times gone by.

Well, ok American Apparel...ok.

So what the hell is up with American Apparel? Certainly not it's stock. Lolz business jokes. But seriously, what the hell. Sure I'll buy these pants because I want to look just like this when I saddle up my horse. No, actually. No I don't.

Ok aside from the ridiculous use of nudity here, so ridiculous I'm not even going to go there and will leave that part up to you (I put my faith in you, ok!) but this chick looks terrible! Awful! Not even good looking for a girl with her boobs out who isn't totally shitfaced (even THAT girl would look better than this girl). WTF PANTS?! WTF?

Why is American Apparel so desperate to look so unflattering that it hurts to look? Why? I know they have this whole 'natural look' they aim for with their marketing and branding etc and good for them for not giving in to superficialities blah blah blah, right? Wrong I say. Their very 'natural' girls are awfully very skinny and pretty. YOU ARE STILL PLAYING THAT GAME AMERICAN APPAREL, WE CAN SEE YOU! Yet they STILL manage to come out looking weird. I don't get it Dov. Let me know what's going on with those pants once you know. (Actually what is with this trend of people who aim to look unflattering? Not 'individual'. Unflattering, full-stop. Huh? I DON'T GET IT??? Whatevs those peeps would love these pants!)

Oh, and, what's with the horse? Anyone else know the point of the horse and titties combination? And besides, the horse looks kind of ashamed to be part of these photos...am I right?
